Cervical gunshot wound: bullet trajectory on three-dimensional computed tomography scan.

چکیده
An 18-year-old man was admitted to the Emergency Unit shortly after having a gunshot wound in the neck. The patient developed an acute flaccid tetraplegia combined with arreflexia and sphincter impairment. He was promptly intubated and immobilized with a cervical spine collar. Threedimensional (3D) cervical computed tomography (CT) scan showed the bullet trajectory with entrance on the right side and no exit on the left side (Figure). A C4-C5 bone fracture was observed, as well as right jugular vein thrombosis. All the greater cervical arteries were incredibly spared. Threedimensional CT scan imaging techniques can be a useful tool for evaluating gunshot wounds of the cervical region1.

Three-dimensional reconstitution of bullet trajectory in gunshot wounds: a case report.
In the medico-legal assessment of cases of aggression with firearms, imaging techniques have a particularly important role, especially in the study of a bullet's path through the victim's body. The analysis of these trajectories can be performed by the use of three-dimensional reconstitution techniques, namely Three-Dimensional Multi-Slice Computed Tomography (3D-MSCT). This imaging technique h...

INTRODUCTION Gunshot injuries of the head and neck from the AK-47 rifle (a common assault rifle, submachine gun type) are a significant contributor to morbidity and mortality among civilians in Sub-Saharan Africa. They may cause significant damage to the closely arranged structures in this region, and the bullet's trajectory can be very difficult to determine. We present an unusual case of guns...
متن کاملGunshot wound without entrance hole: where is the trick? – a case report and review of the literaturer
The presence at CT scan of more retained bullets than expected could be a very difficult interpretation challenge in the early management of gunshot wounds. The modern non operative management of haemodinamically stable patients without peritonitis requires that the trajectory of the bullet is clearly recognized. This clinical case reporting of a gunshot wound without evident entry hole, allows...

Spontaneous migration of retained bullets in the brain is a recognized rare complication of penetrating cranial gunshot wounds to the brain. The authors report one rare case in a 55-year old male patient who presented with a penetrating cranial gunshot wound and a retained bullet. He had a dense right hemiplegia and expressive aphasia on admission. Skull x-ray confirmed the retained intracrania...
